Kneseth Israel Daycare Program

"Play is a dynamic active, and constructive behavior.  It is an essential and integral part of all children's healthy growth, development, and learning across all ages, domains, and culture."

Kneseth Israel Daycare is beginning our 16th year in the fall of 2005.  Kneseth Israel's Daycare services children from both the nursery school and the Aleph Bet Jewish Day School.  We continue to operate after Memorial Day and during the summer.  We are a licensed daycare center approved by the Maryland Child Care Administration and the Department of Human Resources.  Any questions concerning daycare, please contact the director, Madeleine Rubin Knoll.

Our Schedule

We are open from 8:00-9:00AM and 11:30AM to 5:30PM during the school year.  When there are school delays due to inclement weather, if possible, we will be open at the the regular time.  If there are school closings, please call 410-263-3924 x5 to check if we will be open.  We accept drop-ins for such occasions depending on space.

Our Program

During the summer months of June, July, and August we are open to the public.  Our hours are the same.  Mid-June through July is the Art Camp with aftercare, and again open in August for the opportunity for new enrollees to adjust to the new school year and meet new friends.

For the new school year, Kneseth Israel's daycare will consist of a planned program of activities.  Again this year we will include educational activities such as our successful "Introduction to Science", for pre-schoolers and with environmental and nature projects, and exciting scientific experiments.  We plan also to introduce Geography, Social Studies, and Music with theory.  We will continue with our activities of directed creative fine art projects and crafts, storytelling, games, and Yoga.  As required in an all-day kindergarten, your child is given and opportunity to rest for story time.  Afternoon snacks are also provided.

Summer Art Camp

Miss Maddie's Art Camp offers a seven sessions of 1-week morning art class for children, with each week taking on a different theme.

Absences

We are not responsible for absences due to illness, personal reasons, or inclement weather.  If there is a school cancellation due to inclement weather, please call to see if daycare is open.  We do not always follow the Anne Arundel County School system.

When a nursery school staff member brings your child to daycare, your child is signed in.  We keep a monthly attendance record of your child.  If for any reason your child will not be attending daycare that day, you must send prior notification to the daycare director in writing (with a note) or a phone call (410-263-2924 x5) and leave a message.

Medications

Any medication is immediately given to the director of the daycare along with the medication authorization form.  Medications of any kind must NOT be left in your child's backpack.  We can only administer medication once without a doctor written notice.

Pick-up

Parents are to give written notification to the director of the daycare of anyone who is not authorized on their child's emergency form to pick up their child.  If a child is picked up late without prior notice of the scheduled time, there will be a fee of $4.50/any portion of an hour.  Credits are not given if you pick up your child before time originally specified.

Lunch time

Lunches must not contain any meat; beef or pork products, but can be dairy, fish or vegetable.  We must respect the dietary laws of the Jewish religion observed by our synagogue.  Please cut grapes, no nuts, limit on sweet desserts.  Watch out for those "fruit" drinks and salty foods.

Dress Code

Children need to dress appropriately for all types of weather.  Hats and mittens are needed for winter.  Please have your child wear socks with their shoes.  No sandals for outside play can be worn.  Please leave daycare additional clothing in your child's backpack or we can store your child's bagged clothes in our center.

Children staying for quiet time

Please bring a sleeping bag or a blanket and pillow for your child.  During this time, as all-day kindergarten, we have story time and offer a time for your child to relax and unwind.

Our After Hour Policy

Once the Daycare closes at 5:30PM, and you are late for early closings on Fridays, the employee that remains on duty must immediately be paid for us of their personal time.  There is a late pick-up charge of $10.00 for each 10 minutes or fraction thereof that a child is in our care beyond closing time.  You may pay by cash or check.  If payment is not made, your child will not be able to utilize the daycare until your account is brought up to date.  Please respect the personal time of the daycare employees.
